This large Grubworm was unearthed when I was turning over the compost pile. It had overwintered in the pile among the potato and orange peels, egg shells, and broccoli stems. Obviously, it was well fed! In a few more weeks it will pupate before becoming a large beetle of some sort. Notice the brown legs on the thorax and the spiracles (brown circles) on the abdomen.
