I found this Ambush Bug while I was photographing Fly Poison at the UT Arboretum. There was the exoskeleton of a spider at the base of the flower stalk, possibly a victim of the bug. Ambush bugs have a long piercing mouthpart used for draining insects of their body fluids. This insect stays very still on the buds of the Fly Poison until an unsuspecting victim lands on the flowers.
