The caterpillars of this pretty moth eat Ailanthus tree leaves and other deciduous trees. Since Ailanthus trees are invasive non-natives, these moths may be very helpful. Although, I don't recall ever seeing any Ailanthus trees that have died from being eaten by the caterpillars. I photographed this moth in late October at Midtown Elementary school in Midtown, TN.
