I never found the elusive rare white prickly poppy when I ventured down the Alamo Canyon watershed, but this little wildflower more than made up for it! The plant was only about 6" tall and nearly all green, so I almost overlooked it. This was one of those times when it pays to know the habitat certain flowers like. I suspected I might find some orchids in the wet, seep area near the stream and sure enough, this one was growing there! I had to move a small fallen tree and lay on the ground to get this photo! I'm willing to sacrifice getting some dust or mud on my pants to get a shot like this! :) The plant was just down the trail from the abandoned couch.
