I photographed this crab in a touch tank at Tarpon Bay, but earlier in the week a teenage boy found one in a tide pool on the beach near our hotel. I wouldn't want to have this guy pinch me! This species can grow up to 7 inches! Hermit crabs inhabit empty gastropod shells, they are one of the original recyclers, nothing goes to waste in the ocean. :)
