These flowers are unusual in that they are a very dark blue, not a common color for a springtime woodland flower. I took this picture on the Wildflower Greenways Trail in Oak Ridge in mid-April. All Larkspurs are poisonous to animals and humans, they contain the toxins alkaloids delphinine and ajacine.
