We earned this fabulous view of the Frio River and Old Baldy at Garner State Park during our 6-mile hike. Nearly every step of the trail had boulders or rocks! We were very surprised at how small the trees were in the Hill Country. In many areas, the only large trees we saw were the Cottonwoods, Sycamores, and Cypress that grew along the riverbanks. There were some large oaks in towns too. The cedars (Junipers) and mesquite trees were more like large shrubs.
