These large black birds were both obnoxious and comical, we couldn't help but be amused by them. They were the first bird we heard when we stepped outside the airport when we arrived in San Antonio. They make a variety of calls, often sounding somewhat like a car alarm! This guy was in the "mood for love" and was loudly announcing his desires to the females nearby by calling loudly and puffing up his feathers! If you live in an area where grackles live, it is best not to park your car under the trees where they roost at night, it won't look the same the next morning!
