Mexican Buckeye
Ungnadia speciosa / Soapberry Family

March 30, 2009

This shrub is not related to a true Buckeye (Aesculus pavia) which is in the Buckeye Family and has palmately compound leaves. It does, however, have large brown capsules that contain round, brown poisonous seeds with a white "eye" like a true Buckeye tree.
