I was happy to get this photo of Frost on my husband's car. The patterns that water can take when it freezes is amazing sometimes! Frost and dew occur on nights when the sky is free of clouds because clouds act like a blanket to keep the air a bit warmer. Cold air can't hold moisture as well as warm air, so any moisture near the ground will condense onto anything colder than the air. The temperature was 22 degrees (F) when I took this picture at 9:00 a.m. Fortunately, the wind was not blowing! I really like the look of these feathery ice crystals. I'm already thinking of next year's Christmas cards! :)
