Witch Hobble
Viburnum lantanoides /Honeysuckle Family
April 24, 2006

I found this shrub blooming along a trail high in the Smokies on a futile attempt to find a Painted Trillium. The large flowers are sterile, their purpose is to attract the attention of pollinators. If the small flowers are pollinated they will produce red berries in the fall.
Perennial
Where seen: Great Smoky Mountains NP
