I photographed this plant growing at the Moss Landing Marine Laboratory. It was nice that there was a plaque nearby with the common and scientific names! There are so many different kinds of lupines, they can be tough to identify. The seeds of lupines are poisonous to goats and cattle. The toxins contained in the seeds are lupinine, anagyrine, sparteine, and hydroxylupanine. The big names are almost bigger than the seeds themselves!
