Pinnacles National Monument preserves the plants, animals, and fabulous rock formations. This view was our first glimpse of the remains of the ancient Neenach Volcano that erupted 23 million years ago near Lancaster, California, which is 195 miles southeast. Actually, this is only half of the volcano, it left its' other half in Lancaster long ago as it slowly slid north on the famous San Andreas Falult.
