Common Buttercup
Ranunculus acris / Buttercup Family

These buttercups can become weedy in a yard. I photographed these in my yard in Oak Ridge in April. Buttercups contain an acrid toxin, a volatile alkaloid-ameneno that is strong enough to blister the skin and cause inflammation of the intestinal tract of animals such as cattle and goats.
Perennial
Where seen:Oak Ridge, Great Smoky Mountains NP widespread
