I had hoped to see these pretty little pink and white wildflowers, so when I saw them in tight bud on a hike at Kautz Creek in Mt. Rainier NP, I was disappointed. However, two days later I spotted these in bloom at Mounthaven Resort's meadow. This plant was Linnaeus's (the father of the binomial nomenclature system) favorite plant, he had his portrait painted holding one.
Twinflower is a low-growing creeper, so it could be easily overlooked.
