I had been looking for a Meadowlark to photograph for years. Sadly, these handsome birds are becoming scarce due to habitat destruction. This guy was singing loudly in a tree in Cades Cove in the Smokies.
Meadowlarks are ground nesters. They eat insects, grain and seeds.
