When I e-mailed Charlie, my bird expert friend in Georgia, he identified this Mystery bird. It turned out to be what I suspected it was! I must be getting better at bird identification! :) His reply was, "Your bird is a 2nd year male Red-winged Blackbird. It hatched sometime in 2006, and is just molting into it's adult plumage, after
spending the winter looking like his mom. In a month he won't be distinguishable from a 3 or 4 or 10 year old male." So, I was lucky to see this little guy at the feeder behind the house. I have not seen any other Red-winged blackbirds around my house, so I don't know where he came from.
