San Antonio, TX March 25, 2009 Try as I may, I could not get a better shot of these birds! We spotted them as we were eating lunch at an outdoor cafe on the Riverwalk. I'm sure I annoyed some of the other patrons as I kept jumping up with my camera to get a good angle. Some of them didn't quite understand my enthusiasm about a couple of birds! :) The male (right) kept flying off to collect small branches to help build a nest.
This Wood Duck mom and her babies were photographed at Wakulla Springs St. Park in Florida on May 19, 2010. They were photographed from the tour boat. It was fun to go back to the park 6 months after visiting there last Dec., many of the birds had chicks in various stages of growth.
