Concan, TX March 31, 2009 This was another unmistakable warbler. I had first seen him on a concrete picnic table hunting insects. Finally, he flew to the tree where I could get a better picture.
Concan, TX March 31, 2009 This photo was taken early in the morning. The woodpecker was waiting to fly to the hummingbird feeder to load up on nectar. It was really funny to see such a large bird drinking out of the feeder as it swung back and forth! I saw a pair of these birds at Garner State Park calling and doing a mating dance, but they were too high to get a good shot.
Concan, TX March 30, 2009 I spotted these woodpeckers in a large cypress tree along the Frio River. It appears they are both males since they have the red spot on top of their heads.
