Boerne, TX March 28, 2009 These small, brown doves are very well-camouflaged and blend in with the bare ground. Like the Mourning and White-winged Doves, they frequent bird feeders such as this one at the Cibolo Nature Center.
San Antonio, TX March 25, 2009 These doves were very common everywhere we visited in Texas. Their "hoo, hoo, hoo" call might sound a bit like an owl to some people. I thought they were pretty birds, but many of the local folks said they are a pest.
