The male Kildeer was trying to defend his mate and nest by feigning injury. The birds call loudly and run dragging a wing to lure predators away from the nest.

These Kildeers were vying for territory in the middle of the field of Oak Ridge's walking track at the Civic Center. The two pairs were calling and running at each other. I was excited to catch these two birds flying when the tension between them built up! I just love my new camera! :)
