Snapdragon Family This tiny blue flower was blooming near the parking lot of the Oak Ridge library in late August. It is in the Snapdragon Family. The plant is only about 6" tall with finely cut leaves. Thanks to my friend Sonnia in TX for her help in identifying this flower. I could not find it in any of my identification books (not even the 3"-thick plant ID manual!).
Orchid Family What a great treat it was to find this spectacular orchid at Clingman's Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! The individual flowers are gorgeous and have a lovely aroma. I was saddened and angry to see that many of these beautiful plants had been mowed down by the Park Service workers on Clingman's Dome Road! map...
