Acanthus Family I like these pretty pale purple flowers. They may be found from late May throughout the early part of the summer. I photographed these flowers at the University of Tennessee Arboretum. I'm about 98% sure that I have the right species name on this plant, but that nagging 2% bugs me! Perennial Where seen: Oak Ridge Greenways, Warrior's Path SP, University of Tennessee Arboretum
Bluebell Family This pretty bright purple flower is a member of the Bellflower family. The word "perfoliata" denotes the way the leaves surround the stem as if they perforate it. Winter Annual Where seen: Oak Ridge Greenways, widespread
Mint Family Skullcaps are in the Mint Family. This species has a large flower.
