I photographed this mother Moose and her young twins late the first evening that we were in Kenai. My cousin's daughter took us on a "moose hunt" at 10:30 that night. I took the photo from the truck window, cow moose are extremely protective of their young and could easily kill a person. They didn't seem to notice a big red pick-up truck stopped a few feet away!
I wasn't thrilled with the way this photo came out, but it was the best of the ones I got. Most cinquefoils are yellow or white, so I was surprised to see one this color.
I found these plants growing along the shore of Potter Marsh south of Anchorage.
