Talkeetna is the main starting point for climbers who hope to climb "The Great One". I took this plane out of the airport in Talkeetna to get a bird's eye view of Denali. I had to sit in the co-pilot's seat because there was only one seat left. It was an expensive flight at $250 for about 2 hours, but the views were worth every penny!
We flew so high over Mt. McKinley we had to use oxygen masks!
The small, brilliant blue lake was formed from meltwater on the Ruth glacier. The large black medial moraine looked like a paved road from the air! I was sitting in the co-pilot's seat, so I didn't have the best view on the plane. But, I was so thrilled to go up, I didn't complain! A flight over Denali is a must-do, however, be ready to pay dearly to do it! My flight was over $200 for 1-1/2 hours.
