The Mt. Healy trail in Denali started out pretty easy through a type of forest called "taiga", but it became steep and rocky before reaching the overlook. The view from the top was obscured by smoke from the wildfires. This area is frequented by moose, so we had to talk and make a lot of noise.
These are beautiful white flowers that bloom in alpine areas. The species name alludes to the 8 petals of the flowers. The seed heads are as interesting as the flowers are pretty (see following photographs).
