This pretty bright pink wildflower is very common in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I liked how these were blooming amid the basalt columns at Devils Postpile National Monument.

Visitors must ride a bus from Mammoth Mountain ski resort during much of the year to avoid having to drive on the long, narrow, steep mountain roads. The highlight of the park is the fascinating hexagonal basalt columns.
June 29, 2012 I spotted this pretty pink flower growing along the trail near the base of the Devils Postpile columns. It is related to Forget-Me-Not.
