We had to stop and see this windmill as we drove to Dripping Springs. The wind's energy is used to pump ground water which is stored in these huge truck tires. There are lots of free-range cattle in the area that drink the water, along with deer and other wild animals.
On our last day in Las Cruces we visited Dripping Springs Natural Area. It is a park on the west side of the Organ Mountains. It took quite a while to get to this point, we kept getting distracted by beautiful views, a windmill, wildflowers, and 2 tarantulas! map...
These Fire Danger signs are common sights in the western states. It was nice to see this one in the green, low zone. :)
