Coastal Plain Yellowtops along the Bailey tract These plants brightened the Bailey Tract trail. I saw several insects on it. The previous photo shows a close-up of the flowers.
Sanibel Island, FL Dec. 18, 2009 I really had to go back through my "mental library" to figure out what this plant was when I spotted it along the trail at the Bailey Tract on Sanibel Island. I had seen it many times when I looked up plants in my Florida Wildflowers book. I guess going over my wildflower books over and over for several years does pay off eventually! :) It was growing in the middle of a lot of other plants, so I had a hard time photographing it.
Sanibel Island, FL Dec. 18, 2009 I found this plant blooming in a wetland in the Bailey Tract, part of the Ding Darling refuge on Sanibel Island. The species name means "2-flowered".
