Big Cypress Preserve Dec. 16, 2009 This wildflower was a bonus, I found it as I was trying to get a good photo of a Bladderwort. I didn't smell it, but I wish I had!
Big Cypress Preserve, FL Dec. 16, 2009 This is such a cool plant, it is carnivorous! There are tiny bladders on the finely-cut leaves seen just below the surface of the water. The bladders have tiny hair-like growths that when touched by a tiny animal like a water flea, will cause the bladder to close suddenly, pulling the animal inside to be digested. I had to take this photo with a telephoto lens since it was growing in the water. I didn't want to get my boots wet, but I also had to keep the fact that there were alligators and water moccasin snakes in the area!
