This is a typical scene that one sees along the boardwalk at Corkscrew Swamp. There are lots of ferns, bromelieads, arrowhead plants, mosses, and lichens in the cypress forest.
Corkscrew Swamp, FL Dec. 16, 2009 I had seen this flower blooming at Biscayne National Park in July several years ago, so I didn't expect to see it in December!
The grassy plain is another area seen from the boardwalk at Corkscrew Swamp. Had we been there a few months later, we would have seen iris and other wildflowers blooming here.
