Sanibel Island, FL Dec. 16, 2009 This beautiful flower blooms at night and is pollinated by moths. I had seen the wilted flowers that morning and knew where to look for it that night when we came back from our trip to Corkscrew Swamp and Big Cypress Preserve. This photograph was taken at 9:00 p.m.
A lovely Sanibel Island sunrise on the beach. I enjoyed going out each morning at low tide to watch the birds, sea animals, and the sunrise.
Sanibel Island, FL Dec. 16, 2009 I found this sea star in a tide pool at low tide one morning and pulled it out just long enough to snap a couple of photos, then I returned it to the water. It is important to not collect living organisms, they will die when removed from their habitat and they smell terrible! This sea star appears to be growing a new arm where an old one was removed.
