Milkweed Family Boerne, TX March 28, 2009 This unusual little flower almost escaped my attention. I was photographing the Air Plants that were growing on this old wrought-iron fence when I noticed a vine growing up one of the posts. I recognized it from seeing it in my wildflower books. The following photo shows a detailed close-up of the flower.

March 30, 2009 This bird is unmistakable with its long, split tail. I had a very hard time getting a photo, these birds wouldn't let me get too close. I must have looked pretty funny as I slowly stalked them often hiding behind utility poles! Flycatchers land on powerlines, tree limbs, and even barbed wire fences to watch for flying insects. When they spot a fly, moth, or other insect, they dart out quickly to catch and eat it.
