Boerne, TX March 28, 2009
The old limestone Catholic church in Boerne gleamed in the early morning sun. We enjoyed hearing the bells chiming that morning.
Only in Texas would you find signs on cross streets in German and Spanish! Hauptstrasse means "Main Street" in German; Blanco means "white" in Spanish. Many of the little towns in central Texas were established by German immigrants. The pretty building in the background is the Boerne (pronounced "Burney") library. We enjoyed seeing the historic buildings in the old sections of the little towns. We went to Boerne to visit the Cibolo Nature Center. The pretty, clear Cibolo Creek runs through the property, it is lined with huge cypress trees. The center is a good bird-watching area.
