It is hard to believe nearly 1 million bats could live in these slits below the Congress Avenue bridge! It is not possible to see them because they are so far up in them. You can't see them, but you sure can smell them! It is not too wise to stand under the bridge very long!
Here are some of the bats emerging from under the bridge at sunset. It is not a good idea to stand too close, the bats might leave you with a few "souvenirs" on your jacket! It was a cool night, so we didn't see as many bats as we had expected.
Cibolo Creek in Boerne is lined with huge cypress trees. The water runs clear and cold because it is fed by an aquifer. It was low due to the long drought.
