Pea Family Waelder, TX March 26, 2009 The large flower heads of these plants often fell over making photography a challenge. I saw a lot of these plants along the backroads as we drove from San Antonio to Bastrop.
Spiderwort Family Bastrop, TX March 26, 2009 Like their relatives, the Dayflowers, these pretty flowers bloom just one day. They have 3 petals instead of 2 like the Commelinas.
Rosanky, TX March 26, 2009 This was the last wildflower I expected to see blooming in Texas because it doesn't bloom until after a substantial rainfall and the area we were visiting had been suffering through a 2-year drought. However, the week before we arrived, the area received 4" of rain. These flowers were the most common wildflower I saw in some areas, growing thick along the roadsides and in yards! What a nice surprise that was.
