Soapberry Family Leakey, TX (Lost Maples SP) March 30, 2009 This shrub is not related to a true Buckeye (Aesculus pavia) which is in the Buckeye Family and has palmately compound leaves. It does, however, have large brown capsules that contain round, brown poisonous seeds with a white "eye" like a true Buckeye tree.
This riverbed at McKinney Falls SP would have been interesting to see this with a bit more water.
This scene at McKinney Falls State Park was amazing with the submerged rocks.
