August 31, 2007 These spittlebugs make a frothy nest on grass and other plants. They go through incomplete metamorphosis in the nest, the discarded nymph skin can be seen hanging in the foam beneath the insect.

Here is a ventral (lower) view of the same Stinkbug nymph. I flipped it on its back to be able to show the piercing mouthpart, the thorax, and the abdomen. Note the tiny black dots on the abdomen, those are the spiracles, or "breathing holes".
