sp. / order: Mecoptera Oak Ridge, TN June 2008 I photographed this insect through a petri dish at science camp. Some insects just don't like to pose for pictures, so I have to "help" them out a bit! :)Although it looks a lot like a cranefly, take note that it has 4 wings, so it isn't a fly at all.
Dicromantispa sayi 6-10-10 These funny little insects look amazingly like a small Praying Mantis. Their front legs are used for capturing prey.
