Long-horned Caddisfly

Gatlinburg, TN (University of Tennessee Field Station) August 8, 2008 Although Caddisflies are usually found around water, this one was photographed on a light sheet during the Bugguide 2008 Gathering. Caddisflies are aquatic during the first 3 stages of their life. Many of the larvae build elaborate tubes from sticks, small stones, and even snail shells.
