This is how Lovebugs are most commonly seen --- dead, smashed on the front of a car! The fluids in their bodies can cause damage to the finish of vehicles, so they need to be removed as soon as possible.
Diptera Milton, FL August 30, 2008 Thanks to recent rains from Tropical Storm Faye, we had our first introduction to these insects; usually, they are more prevalent in late Sept. or Oct. These flies could be great advertisement icons for one of the major US airlines, they always "fly united"! ;) The female is the larger of the two, but she has the small eyes.
