A small sample of some of the moths collected at Tremont. Information gathered at Tremont is shared with the ATBI (All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory) researchers who are trying to document every type of living organism in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
This little caterpillar had been feasting on the rayflowers (petals) of the Ragwort flowers. Sometimes these caterpillars place dried bits of flowers on their bodies as a form of camouflage.
