Silkmoths Hodges #7765 Oak Ridge, TN (Anderson Co.) June 2, 2008 Science Camp is a wonderful place to find and photograph insects. There are a lot more eyes on the lookout for critters, and the kids are a lot faster than I am to catch them! A couple of the boys caught this beautiful moth, I put it on a tree to get a better photo. The caterpillars of these moths make their cocoons on the ground in the leaf litter. It gets its name from the fact that the caterpillars eat Tulip Poplar tree leaves.
