is located in the park at the Oak Ridge Civic Center. It was designed by Oak Ridgers and forged in Japan. The bell commemorates the dates of Pearl Harbor attacks by Japan and the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States. The uranium for the atomic bombs was processed in Oak Ridge. The bell also celebrates the friendship between the people of America and Japan. It is especially beautiful in April when the cherry blossoms are in bloom!
Visitors can use the traditional palm trunk striker to ring the Peace Bell. The bell produces a loud, low tone; we live about a mile from the bell and we can often hear it when it is rung!
