My husband and I saw this Giant mushroom growing at the base of a tree along a trail at the Cherokee National Forest. It was over a foot across! I didn't want to get too close to try to measure it, the mushroom smelled awful and it was surrounded by hundreds of fruitflies!

Crust Fungus Family This was a beautiful blue fungus (which is what the scientific name means), we called it "Blue Jean Fungus" since it was the color of denim.
