Sector plate snowflakes occur when the cloud temperatures are between 10 - 14 degrees F. I think they are the most detailed and elaborate of the different kinds of snowflakes.
This Sector plate snowflake looks more like a flower than a snow crystal. The variety of these snowflakes is incredible!
When two snowflakes collide in a cloud, they can stick together and grow to form a 12-pointed double snowflake. This photo has a double crystal on the left and a single on the right.
