is reached by an easy hike from Metcalf Bottoms or it can be reached by car on a gravel road. This tiny one room schoolhouse was used by numerous mountain children for many years until they had to leave due to the formation of the park. Those kids really did have to hike five miles (give or take a few) in the snow to get to school! The graveyard has headstones from many of the families who lived in the bottoms.
