I was excited to see this beautiful Linear-leaved Gentian blooming along the trail at around the 6,000-foot elevation area. One small, grassy field was full of this plant and Grass of Parnassus.
was 9 years ago along this trail. I had looked for it for 10 years up to that point! Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera with me at that time. This plant grows only in the highest elevations of the park.
Wild Boars are like "hooved roto-tillers," plowing up roots and tubers of plants as they search for food. They also carry diseases and foul the water in streams.
