on our way through Elizabethton, TN. It is the site of the Watauga settlement, the first permanent settlement outside the 13 colonies. There is a reconstructed pentagon-shaped fort behind the visitor's center where reinactments take place. There are hiking trails at the park, but unfortunately, we didn't have time to check them out.
