have needles that go all the way around the twigs. I remember the difference between spruces and firs by thinking, "Firs are flat" and you can "spruce up" with a round feather duster! Yeah, I know it's weird, but it works! :)
on our way through Elizabethton, TN. It is the site of the Watauga settlement, the first permanent settlement outside the 13 colonies. There is a reconstructed pentagon-shaped fort behind the visitor's center where reinactments take place. There are hiking trails at the park, but unfortunately, we didn't have time to check them out.
