This beautiful bridge was built by the CCC. It can be seen from the nearby restaurant.
There are nice rock formations and this little waterfall along the Byrd Lake trail. Just above the trail is the Bear Trace Golf Course.

The Pioneer Loop is part of the Byrd Lake trail. I noticed the leaves of lots of Trailing Arbutus on this trail. There were Marsh and Birdsfoot Violets along with Vernal Iris and Pinxterflower. Mountain Laurel is very prevalent along this trail.

Another view of the Bridge. The park has paddleboats for rent.
There is a lot of sandstone in the park. It is amazing to see how the trees can grow on top of the rocks.

This swinging Bridge is on the Byrd Lake Trail.
This wooden bridge crosses the lake at Cumberland Mountain State Park. The park is located off Hwy. 127 S map... This lovely old bridge across Byrd Lake has been removed due to age and damage (as of 2012).
